The City of Goshen is preparing to make a final attempt at collecting recyclable materials from residents who don’t participate in curbside recycling programs.

On Feb. 13 the city received bids for the project and during Monday afternoon’s meeting, the Board of Public Works awarded the contract to BFI Waste.

The Goshen News says services will begin on April 1 on North Indiana Avenue, and the contract is set to continue through December 31 of 2027 with the possibility of an extension.

Goshen Mayor Jeremy Stutsman says the legal department is also working on an ordinance that allows fines for people who dump inappropriately at the location.

Cameras are already prepared to cover the location as well as to capture license plates.

The county plans to provide yearly payments for operations and maintenance of the location.
