Female inmate found dead inside cell at Berrien County Jail

An investigation is underway after a female inmate was found dead inside her cell at the Berrien County Jail.

The discovery was made around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 17.

Jail staff and medics attempted life-saving measures, but were unsuccessful.

They say the inmate had prior medical conditions and there were no signs of trauma.

The inmate was being held on drug charges.
