Penn High School’s winningest all-time coach is stepping down.

Al Rhodes, the longtime boys basketball coach for the Kingsman, announced his retirement Tuesday.

Rhodes achieved a record of 239-128 with Penn in 15 seasons, and has coached high school basketball in the state for 42 years. He’s also a graduate of Penn High School, a former coach at Northrop, Logansport, Warsaw and Angola — and an Indiana Hall of Fame inductee.

Rhodes steps away as one of the legends of the state’s most popular sport.
