Berrien County father sentenced for role in neglect, death of 8-year-old son

Berrien County Prosecutors Office

A Berrien County father was sentenced to 22 to 50 years in prison in connection with the neglect and death of his son last May.

Brian Morrow’s sentencing comes over a month after his wife, Mia Morrow, was sentenced for her role in their 8-year-old son, Jaxson’s, death.

According to ABC 57, the boy was found dead by police last year, and autopsy results found that he had died from neglect.

According to reports, Jaxson weighed 31 pounds at the time of his death, which was the same as he weighed when he was three.

The prosecutor stated that Jaxson had a disability and was supposed to be cared for by doctors, but no medications for him were found in the home.

Both parents were originally charged with first-degree murder.

Mia pleaded guilty to second-degree murder while Brian pleaded no contest to second-degree murder.

In their plea agreements, their first-degree murder charges were dismissed along with separate charges for meth possession.
