St. Joe man sentenced for role in autistic son’s death

Berrien County Prosecutors Office

A man in Berrien County has been sentenced for his role in the death of his autistic son.

Brian Morrow of St. Joseph will spend between 22 and 50 years in prison for the death of the 8 year-old child.

The sentence was given this week after a plea of no contest to 2nd degree murder. Last month Mia Morrow, the boy’s mother, was sentenced to 25 to 50 years in prison for the child’s death.

Court records say their son died in May of last year, weighing only 31 lbs. A month later his death was ruled a result of caregiver neglect. The parents waited a day after his death to report it to officials, and there had been multiple calls to child protective services made by a learning center the boy was enrolled in.
