Michigan City boy, 15, arrested for burglary, shots fired, arson

A 15-year-old Michigan City boy has been arrested, suspected in a break-in and shots fired and an arson case.

It was back in late January that would were called to investigate a case of shots fired in the 200 block of Poplar Street.

On scene, they found a home with a door left wide-open and bullet casings in the alley. The people in the home told officers a male suspect had forced his way inside and fired multiple shots from a handgun.

Investigators centered in on the teen suspect, who they say left town, but would return from time to time.

Last Monday, April 24, officers stopped the teen in a car traveling on U.S. 20 and took him into custody on burglary, criminal recklessness and possession of a firearm charges, as well as the unrelated arson case.

The juvenile was taken to the LaPorte County Juvenile Services Center following his arrest.

The Michigan City Police Department is asking that anybody with information about these cases to please contact Cpl. Pliske at (219) 874-3221 Ext. 1086 or Sgt. Sopher at Ext. 1049, or contact them via Facebook Messenger, through their crime tip hotline number of 219-873-1488, or call the WeTip Hotline for General Crime (800) 78-CRIME and possibly receive a reward upon an arrest and conviction.
