Employees suffer chemical burns at Grand Rapids company

An employee fell into a vat of sodium hydroxide at a company in Grand Rapids last week. OSHA says it happened around 1:15 p.m. Friday afternoon at Advance Plating & Finishing.

As of Friday afternoon, that employee was listed in critical condition with chemical burns.

Another worker suffered similar injuries while pulling the employee out of the vat, and was also taken to a hospital. Their condition is unknown.

OSHA will be investigating the incident.
