A bill sponsored by a local lawmaker, and just signed into law by Governor Eric Holcomb, will close a loophole in a child seduction statute.
Authored by Democratic Representative Maureen Bauer, the legislation better to ensure acts of child seduction committed by youth sports coaches are adequately prosecuted.
It add acts of child seduction committed by youth sports organization coaches, such as athletic clubs and travel leagues, into the current child seduction criminal statute.
The current statute only applies to childcare workers who are employed by school corporations, charter schools, nonpublic schools or special education cooperatives, and who are in a position of trust or power over a child.

Im pleased to this from Governor Holcomb, gives a little faith and hope that conservative lawmakers in Indiana do have our children’s interests at heart. Hopefully more laws protecting our children from predators, and ensuring their safety st school and in public, through stricter gun laws, is to come in the not too distant future.
