An Edwardsburg man who fled from police last year will be spending the next year in jail after being sentenced on Friday.

The incident happened in February last year when 52-year-old Daniel Sage was stopped by police for a broken taillight.

Sage refused to step from the vehicle when asked, and he fled at speeds up to 75 miles per hour. Police ended the chase due to icy condition, but Sage recently pleaded guilty to fourth degree fleeing police and reckless driving.

According to Leader Publications, Sage was sentenced to 365 days in jail and a total of $1,548 in fines and costs.

Sage is also facing a jury trial in Cass County Circuit Court in June on drug and firearm related charges from a December incident.
