Time is running out to apply for the City of South Bend’s lamppost program.
The cost-share program offers easy self-install, solar-powered lampposts for residential front yards within the city limits.
This year, two areas have been selected, based on income, number of vacant lots, and need for lighting in the neighborhood to get a deep discount on the lighting.
Homeowners who live within target areas will pay 10% of total lamppost cost at $50. Outside of the target areas, homeowners pay 50% of total lamppost cost at $250.
The last day to apply for the program on the city’s website is Thursday, June 1.
More information about the program and target areas can be found in the attached brochure or at www.southbendin.gov/lamppost
