A woman from Ohio died after a motorcycle crash on the U.S. 31 bypass near the state line.

It was just before 2:10 p.m. on Saturday, May 27, when South Bend Police responded to a single, serious motorcycle crash in the northbound lanes between the Brick Road exit and the Adams Road overpass.

The victim who died is identified as Bobbie Jo Yocum, 51, of Defiance, Ohio according to South Bend Police.

As traffic began to back up, a two-vehicle crash occurred approximately a half-mile south of the original crash location.

While there were also injuries in the second crash, none appeared to be life-threatening.

Northbound traffic was diverted at the Brick Road exit as officers continued to investigate.
