Today, the City of South Bend launched the 2023 Neighborhood IGNITE (Innovation Grants for Neighborhood Inspiration, Transformation, and Enhancement) Grant Program. The program can provide up to $10,000 for neighborhood associations to jumpstart projects that positively impact their community. The goal is to improve South Bend neighborhoods through innovative projects that spark community engagement led by neighborhood residents.
Last year’s IGNITE Grant projects included new neighborhood signage, banners, signal box art, park improvements & enhancements, a neighborhood tool trailer, and an expanded community garden.
While preference will be given to neighborhood associations that did not receive a grant in 2022, all active neighborhood associations are encouraged to learn more and apply.
2023 IGNITE Grant timeline:
June 14: Informational Zoom meetings at 12:30pm and 7:00pm
June 20: Informational Open House at the TRC (1165 Franklin St.) at 7:00pm
June-August: One-on-one meetings with Engagement & Economic Empowerment team
August 15: Grant applications due
