Elkhart armed robbery suspect arrested within hours of 7-Eleven heist

Swift work by Elkhart Police who located and arrested an armed robbery suspect within hours of the incident.
It was just after 12 a.m. on June 2, when Elkhart Police officers dispatched to 7-Eleven at 2805 Toledo Road on the report of a robbery.
The clerk reported that a woman entered the business, approached the cash register, and demanded that he open the cash register. The woman was holding what appeared to be a knife inside a plastic bag.
She allegedly took several hundred dollars in cash from the register and stole an unknown amount of cigarette packs.
A witness reported seeing a red passenger car leaving 7-Eleven at a high rate of speed. Through the investigation officers traced the woman and vehicle to an apartment complex at 2125 Toledo Rd.
Just before 2:30 a.m., the woman came out of the apartment and was detained.  Officers then executed a search warrant at the apartment.
Siarra Pontius, 20, of Elkhart, was arrested and booked into the Elkhart County Jail for Armed Robbery.
On June 5, the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office filed charging documents with the Elkhart
Circuit Court charging her with Armed Robbery, a Level 3 Felony.
