ACT Nappanee-Wakarusa is hoping to reduce deaths and injuries from home fires.

They’ll be emphasizing home fire awareness at their booth at the June 16 Friday Fest in Nappanee.

The booth will be at the Downtown Pavilion from 5 to 8 p.m., with a game for children to win fire hats and awareness toys.

Residents will also be able to sign up to have smoke detectors installed in their homes for free. Nationwide, home fires occur every 87 seconds.

ACT Nappanee-Wakarusa emphasizes the importance of working smoke detectors and escape plans from each part of the house.
