Lincoln Charter Township Beach could reopen

Storm approaching Lions Park Beach in St. Joseph, MI. (Linda Closson)

A beach that was closed in 2020 could be reopening.

Lincoln Charter Township officials have a plan to revive the beach, after it closed because high water levels eroded the pavilion and parking area.

It has about 400 feet of sand now. WSJM reports that the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy needs to approve the project, since dunes are also there.

There is no timeline yet for the project.
