Wakarusa dealing with water loss

Wakarusa is dealing with a big loss of water.

This, after a boil order, a fire on State Road 19 that used a lot of the water supply, and a lack of rain.

Now, town leaders say that a multi-million dollar project will expand the town’s water treatment facilities.

Wakarusa will upgrade a pair of 200,000-gallon water towers, which could take until the end of June. The town’s east tower will have resurfacing.

During the process, the water towers have to be taken offline. One will be kept in service while the other is being worked on.

Anyone with questions is invited to visit town council meetings, the next one being held on July 11.
