A man is facing charges after a car crash led to a serious injury.

It happened on Sep. 24, 2022, when Elkhart Police were called to a crash at the intersection of Bristol Street and County Road 7.

The Goshen News reports that Juan Camacho Gallardo, one of the drivers, was taken to the hospital, where he told medics that he had four or five drinks before the crash.

Officers say that Gallardo was uncooperative, belligerent, and was threatening to kill himself.

A blood draw showed that Gallardo had blood alcohol of .342 and would have been .279 at the time of the crash. There was also THC in his blood.

He is now charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated with alcohol and marijuana.
