A Connecticut man has learned his fate after pleading guilty in U.S. District Court in South Bend to possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
It was back in November of last year when Ismael Ortiz-Vargas, 37, was stopped on the Indiana Toll Road and police discovered that he was transporting a kilogram of cocaine from Connecticut, to Wisconsin, to sell in Milwaukee.
At the time of the stop, an arrest warrant had been issued for a violation of his supervised release based on a previous federal conviction for possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, as well as possession with intent to distribute cocaine and marijuana.
Ortiz-Vargas has now been sentenced to 60 months in prison followed by 4 years of supervised release.
