Two people killed in crash near Indian Prairie and Kalamazoo Roads in St. Joseph County, Michigan

Two people were killed in a two-vehicle crash in St. Joseph County in Michigan.

The collision happened around 11 p.m. on Friday, June 30, near Indian Prairie Road and Kalamazoo Road.

According to authorities, a 19-year-old driver in a Cadillac Escalade attempted to pass a Chevrolet Cobalt in a no-passing zone and struck the Chevy.

The Cobalt then left the road and hit a tree.

A 29-year-old woman died at the scene. A 27-year-old woman was airlifted to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died.

The driver of the Escalade was arrested and faces multiple felony charges.

Alcohol and speeding are believed to be factors in the crash.

As of late Saturday, police had not released any names.
