Goshen man, 91, injured after colliding with semi at CR 17 and SR 119

A 91-year-old Goshen man was hospitalized after driving his vehicle into the side of a semi.

The crash happened just after 5 p.m. on Monday, July 3, at the intersection of County Road 17 and State Road 119.

According to Elkhart County Sheriff’s investigators, a 50-year-old man from Dowagiac who was driving the semi was traveling northbound and went through the intersection at the same time as the elderly Goshen man.

The semi-driver was not hurt. The Goshen man was taken to Elkhart General Hospital with a laceration to his head and head and neck pain.

Witnesses on the scene behind the semi stated the light was red when the driver of the rig continued through the intersection. He was cited for disregarding a traffic signal.
