Chase suspect crashes into SJCPD cruiser

A police chase Thursday morning resulted in a crash involving a St. Joseph County Police cruiser.

Officials say the chase began in Osceola just after 10 a.m. near the intersection of West Superior St. and Beech Road after the suspect was spotted driving at speeds over 80 miles per hour.

County police joined the pursuit, and the suspect hit the officer’s cruiser near Lincolnway East and Bittersweet. No injuries were reported in the crash.

The suspect escaped and was last seen around 10:30 a.m. headed east on McKinley Avenue.
