Gary man hospitalized after shooting in Michigan City

Police in Michigan City are looking for the suspect who shot a Gary man.

LaPorte County 911 dispatchers received a call around 10:35 a.m. on Friday, July 14, regarding a person who was shot in the 500 block of Pleasant Avenue.

Officers responded to the scene and located a 37-year-old man from Gary, who had a gunshot wound to the right shoulder.

Officer Lenover provided first aid to the victim before he was transported by LaPorte County EMS to Franciscan Health Hospital in Michigan City for a non-life-threatening injury. The victim was eventually transported from Franciscan Health Hospital in Michigan City to University of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois for more advanced medical treatment.

Numerous articles of evidence were collected, and multiple witnesses were interviewed.

Officers and detectives continue to interview witnesses, attempt to identify a suspect, search for video surveillance in the area and collect additional evidence.
