A Valparaiso man died after a crash in LaPorte County.

The collision happened around 2 a.m. on Saturday, July 15, in the area of State Road 2 and Old State Road 2.

A 2014 GMC Sierra pickup truck was traveling along State Road 2 and left the roadway, traveled into a deep ditch, and came to rest in a field.

The driver, Allan VanBlaircom, 55, sustained an upper body injury. He was taken to Northwest Health Hospital in Porter County where he died.

His passenger, a 28-year-old woman from Skokie, Illinois survived the crash.

Members of the Fatal Alcohol Crash Team are further investigating the circumstances of the crash.
