A Michigan City woman who pled guilty to conspiracy to distribute fentanyl has been sentenced in U.S. District Court in South Bend.

Meliki Marion, 42, was ordered to serve 130 months in prison.

According to court documents, from June through mid-August 2021, Marion conspired with others to distribute fentanyl in the Michigan City area.

Federal prosecutors say Marion’s co-defendants sold pills purporting to be oxycodone that were actually fentanyl.

In August of that year, two co-defendants were stopped while traveling back to Michigan City with over a kilogram of fentanyl pills.  Marion had $3,000 – cash on her when apprehended by law enforcement as she tried to run away from her home as it was to be searched.

Marion admitted that she collected money related to the conspiracy.
