Two people killed in vehicle/motorcycle crash on U.S. 20 near Quince Road

Two people on a motorcycle were killed in a collision in western St. Joseph County.

It was just after 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 22, when the St. Joseph County Fatal Crash Team was activated for a collision involving a motorcycle and passenger vehicle on U.S. 20 west of Quince Road.

According to investigators, a 45-year-old man driving the passenger vehicle was travelling eastbound and crossed the centerline in the path of the motorcycle, which was driven by Mark E. Pierce, 59, of South Bend.

Pierce and his passenger on the motorcycle, Jane M. Ryall,54, also of South Bend both died at the scene.

The driver of the passenger vehicle sustained minor injuries and was treated and released. He is cooperating with investigators.

The crash remains under investigation by the St. Joseph County Fatal Crash Team.
