Elderly man dead after fall near the main entrance of Elkhart General Hospital

An elderly man died after falling to the ground from the parking garage near the main entrance of Elkhart General Hospital.

It happened around 5:20 a.m. on Tuesday, July 25.

Hospital personnel responded immediately and worked with Elkhart Police officers, who were dispatched and arrived shortly thereafter.

The male, who is in his late 70’s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Elkhart County Homicide Unit was activated, per protocol and, though the cause of the fall remains under investigation, no foul play is suspected and there was no danger to the public.

Operations at Elkhart General Hospital continued as normal.
