Indiana State Prison in Michigan City, closing

The Indiana State Prison in Michigan City will be closing after being in operation for more than 160 years.

The Indiana Department of Corrections will combine it with the Westville Correctional Facility. The state is building a new prison in Westville for $1.2 billion.

Corrections department leaders is asking the State Budget Committee to release the money appropriated for the new prison.
