A new SUV production has begun in Indiana.
Last week, Toyota Indiana began production of the first-ever Grand Highlander SUV at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Plant in Princeton, north of Evansville.
Inside Indiana Business reports that production of the SUV is part of Toyota’s investment of more than 800 million dollars in the plant.
Last week’s event included the announcement of a five-year,  $11.1 million dollar commitment to prepare students for STEM careers in that part of the state.
Since production began at the plant, it has produced more than 350 thousand vehicles and employs more than 7,200 people.
