Hapner enters guilty plea for 2021 deadly hit-and-run in Elkhart

A man accused of fleeing from the scene of a fatal collision that happene two years ago has entered a guilty plea.

The sentencing for Ronnie Hapner is set for early next month. Hapner was charged in relation to his involvement in the collision, including leaving the scene of an accident resulting in significant bodily harm and resulting in a fatality.

The collision happened on June 4, 2021, along Greenleaf Boulevard.

Law enforcement discovered the lifeless body of 18-year-old Blaine Fisher at the scene, while another 18-year-old was found unresponsive, but survived.

Initially, Hapner had pleaded not guilty to the charges, but with the plea, his sentencing has been scheduled for Sept. 7.
