A woman is accusing several Elkhart County Corrections Officers of sexual misconduct in the jail.
The lawsuit names the County Board, Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff Jeff Siegel, three deputies and a jail officer and seeks damages for distress, reputation harm, and income loss.
Placed in work release amid a divorce case, the woman alleges the jail officer made inappropriate advances.
The plantiff says her cell was unsanitary, with an overflowing toilet. The suit also details alleged instances where deputies took inmates to camera-free areas and and traded items for sexual favors.
The plaintiff says she suffers from PTSD and panic attacks. The Goshen News reports two of the deputies named in the suit were previously fired for rule violations.
