St. Joseph City Commissioners approve flood grant for Anchors Way

(Jon Zimney/95.3 MNC)

A High Water Infrastructure Grant Agreement has been approved to try to prevent fooding on Anchors Way.

St. Joseph City engineer Tim Zebell said Anchors Way is the only access to the Benton Harbor – St. Joseph Joint Wastewater Treatment Plant, the Island Pointe housing development, Pier 33, Brian’s Marina and the St. Joseph boat launch ramp.

While the flooding has been a problem for a long time, it has been said to have gotten even worse in recent years.

Zebell says the city could hire Wade Trim to develop a plan to prevent flooding, and that the costs would be covered between a grant and the street budget.

Commissioners approved moving forward
