A 31-year-old man has been charged in connection with the death of his girlfriend’s 3-month-old baby.

Darren Corbett was charged with murder, aggravated battery resulting in death and neglect of a dependent resulting in death.

Emergency personnel responded to reports of an infant not breathing in Akron, but the infant died despite lifesaving efforts.

An autopsy ruled the death as a homicide after results showed a brain bleed and amphetamine and methamphetamine in the victim’s system.

Corbett, the boyfriend of the baby’s mother, did not have an explanation as to how the brain bleed could have happened, and he and the mother both tested positive for drugs in their system.
