Indiana is among the Top Ten states for sports betting so far in 2023.

The website nodepositrewards.com has ranked the states where such betting is legal, and found New Jersey, New York, and Arizona topping the list. The research discounts Nevada, where much of the handle is likely due to gambling tourism.

Indiana finished in 9th place, with a handle per capita of more than $427. The state wagered more than $4.4 billion in 2022, and wagered $2.2 billion between January and July of this year.

The Hoosier State has not experienced the same growth as some other states, but the spending so far in 2023 represents what the study calls “a solid baseline for possible future growth.”
