Details, timeline for U.S. 12 & M-51 construction project revealed

More information about a major construction project at U.S. 12 and M-51 in Niles is coming to light.

The Michigan Department of Transportation has revealed details and a timeline.

Work is expected to begin next month and last more than one year to complete.

The project will start with temporary pavement and traffic signals on eastbound U.S. 12 near the M-51 ramps.

Crews will work on the southbound, center and center turn lanes and then the northbound lanes.

Drivers can expects delays and detours until the construction wraps in in November of next year.
