Second District Congressman Rudy Yakym has laid out some of his priorities for Hoosiers at a House Ways and Means Committee Member Hearing.
Included in Yakym’s list is his support for legislation that will help the RV industry and encourage investment in affordable housing.
He says the Travel Trailer and Camper Tax Parity Act would allow dealers to focus less on what he calls unnecessary paperwork and focus more on selling RVs to Americans looking to explore the nation.
He says the Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act, which he co-sponsors would enhance a tool that has successfully encouraged private investment in affordable housing. That’s something he says is necessay with Inflation, supply chain disruptions, and rising interest rates making it more difficult to find affordable housing.
Yakym has also introduced the “Baby Observation Act” also known as “BO’s Act.”
The legislation is aimed at increasing awareness of and paving the way for expanded access to medical devices that can help save infant lives.
“BO’s Act” is named after Lakeville native Bo Newton, who benefited from technology.
It requires the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute to study the use of home cardio-respiratory monitors to reduce and prevent sleep-related sudden infant death syndrome or sudden unexpected infant death.
The legislation also requires funding to be provided for a study. Sudden Infant Death Syndrome is the leading cause of death among babies between 1 month and 1 year of age.
