Two charged and arrested with Saturday shots fired in South Bend

Two people have been arrested and charged in connection with a gunfire exchange on South Bend’s West Side on Saturday, Sep. 16.

It happened around 10:30 p.m. when police were called to Philippa and Huron Streets on the report of shots fired during an outdoor gathering.

Four people suffered from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

Now, Marcos Granado, 21, and Nicholas Granado, 16, have been identified as firing shots toward large groups of people and cars.

Police say that Marcos Granado was charged with Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon and Unlawful Carrying of a Handgun. Marcos has a prior conviction for Possession of a Machine Gun, which prohibits him from carrying a handgun. Nicholas Granado has been charged with Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon and Dangerous Possession of a Firearm. Nicholas has a prior juvenile adjudication for Dangerous Possession of a Firearm.

Both are being held at the St Joseph County Jail.

Sooner or later people with tattooed faces and necks, end up with criminal mugshots for doing stupid things. The latest stupid thing was carelessly discharging a firearm and endangering people’s lives.
