LaPorte County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a serious bodily injury crash.

It was just after 6 p.m. on Monday, Sep. 25, when deputies were sent to the intersection of State Road 2 and County Road 500 West in regard to a crash.

The initial on-scene investigation determined a 1999 Dodge van, driven by a 66-year-old Kingsford Heights man was traveling south on CR 500 West. The van failed to yield to a 1990 Ford dump truck traveling east on State Road 2.

The van entered the dump truck’s path of travel and the vehicles collided.

Following the crash, both vehicles overturned resulting in gravel being strewn about on the roadway that was being hauled by the dump truck.

The dump truck was being driven by a 58-year-old Rolling Prairie man. Both drivers were taken to the hospital for treatment.

A 71-year-old woman who was riding in the van was airlifted to a regional hospital for treatment.
