This week’s continuing UAW strike has some people wondering about the future of the EV battery plant being built by General Motors near New Carlisle.

Facilities and factories are shutting down and closing up across the country as the United Auto Workers strike continues against the Big Three automakers.

The planned GM plant near New Carlisle would manufacture electric vehicle batteries, and is due to start construction in the spring. St. Joseph County officials say the future employees of that plant are likely to be impacted by the decisions reached by the strike. Plans, however, are still moving forward.
