AG Rokita alerts Hoosiers of recent increase in hacking scams

Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita, has alerted Indiana residents of a recent increase in hacking scams.
The scams, known as “phantom hacking,” involve scammers who pretend to be tech support, financial institutions, or government officials to deceive victims and gain access to their money.
Older people are often the main target.
According to the FBI, they have received approximately 19,000 complaints related to tech support scams since the beginning of this year through June, with an estimated $542 million stolen from victims.

nice to warn everybody what about helping the victims now . criminals hiding behind privacy rights making it difficult to track. agencies and instututions not cooperating to put end to this.time for someone to step up and fight them with same tactics.plus convit and jail offenders no slap on the wrist .max jail time based on dollar each dollar stolen or until victim is paid back with intrest in full.no parole or early release or crooked justice deals.bring back electric chair and hard labor if needed make prison space.its our tax dollars paying for there keep .my daught was a victim in feb 23 for 5,300. college savings .nothing done about it.this problem is worse than published to many embarrassed victims don’t come forward .want to know the story id be happy to tell you exactly how it happened on condition her name stays anonymous.
