The 16th Annual Lighting of Shipshewana and Christmas Light Parade kicks off on Saturday, Nov. 11, in downtown Shipshewana.

The annual kickoff to the Christmas season in Shipshewana is a welcome event for thousands of people who come each year.
In 2022, the attendance was estimated at over 12,000 people.
“This year will be the biggest light parade we have ever done”, said Andrew Rohrer one of the event’s organizers. “With over 60 entries, the family-friendly atmosphere, food, lights, and music are fun and make for a wonderful getaway for families.”
The Parade starts at 7 p.m. from the Flea Market Grounds and proceeds through town, ending by the Blue Gate Restaurant and Shipshewana Furniture Co. where the main stage will be set for the countdown and lighting ceremony.
The ceremony begins immediately following the conclusion of the parade.
The Lighting of Shipshewana Ceremony will feature a Live Nativity, music by the Chuck Wagon Gang, a dramatic reading of the Christmas story, and the countdown to the lighting of the thousands of Christmas lights for which Shipshewana has become famous.
Several other events will take place before the parade including a visit from Santa, greeting children from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. live reindeer to meet and take photos with, costumed characters, Harrison Street food-truck alley, and much more.
The event is free for everyone. More information about the event can be found online at www.LightingOfShipshewana.com.
