Elkhart police chase ends on toll road without an arrest

A vehicle pursuit started off County Road 6 in Elkhart and ended on the Indiana Toll Road without a suspect beling arrested.

It was around 5:20 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9, when Elkhart Police got a call that a man with felony warrants was near the Ross Dress for Less store on County Road 6.

An officer spotted the man, soon after, but the suspect took off in an older Honda Civic.

The suspect vehicle fled westbound on County Road 6 and struck a vehicle, causing non-life-threatening injury to the driver of the vehicle. The Civic then traveled northbound on Moose Trail, going through woods near where it dead-ends, but the vehicle went through two fences and ended up on the westbound toll road by the toll plaza.

Officers found the vehicle, unoccupied, near the 89 mile marker. The suspect driver fled the scene on foot.

Officers attempted to locate the driver, including with the help of police K9s, but were unable to do so.
