The Michigan State Police are you to get ready now for winter weather later.

Last week was Winter Hazards Awareness week, and the Michigan State Police said most people who are used to the winter weather are still sometimes caught unprepared.

The troopers suggest getting your car inspected before the cold weather hits, including your tire pressures. Make sure you have an emergency kit in the car. Get your furnace inspected. And get a carbon monoxide detector for the house. If you have to run a generator during a power outage, keep it outside and away from doors and windows.
