An 18-year-old man is dead after a crash in Michigan City and two others have been arrested — one on a preliminary attempted murder charge.

Officers were patrolling the north side of Michigan City around 12 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25, when they heard multiple gunshots being fired from the 400 block of Walker Street.

Soon after, they discovered three vehicles involved in the crash.

Mykel Trice, 18, of Michigan City was found dead and pinned underneath one of the vehicles that overturned.

Jordan Glancy, 19, of LaPorte, was identified as the driver of one of the vehicles involved in this crash.

Glancy was detained while officers continued with the investigation.

Investigators were then dispatched to Franciscan Health Michigan City Hospital for a patient suffering from a gunshot wound.

Investigators encountered Jermaine Carter Jr., 18, of Michigan City, who was being treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the right leg.

Carter Jr. was eventually discharged from the hospital and detained by investigators.

Glancy was arrested for dealing a Schedule I controlled substance and dealing marijuana.

Carter Jr. was arrested for attempted murder, attempted robbery with a deadly weapon, criminal recklessness, and unlawful carrying of a handgun.

Glancy and Carter Jr. have a probable cause review hearing scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 28.

The Michigan City Police Department is asking anybody who may have witnessed this incident, has any additional information, or has video surveillance / cell phone video of this incident, to contact Detective Sergeant Lendell Hood at (219) 874-3221; Extension 1074 or via email at lhood@emichigancity.com.
