The study by pre-settlement legal funding company High Rise Financial analyzed the latest data from the CDC which showed the number of unintentional deaths in each state.

The study also included the associated cost of the deaths to see which states accidental deaths were costing the most.

It found that Louisiana has the most expensive accidental deaths.

In 2021, there were nearly 4,500 unintentional deaths in the state, where combined costs, made up of medical costs and the value of statistical life, topped $47 billion dollars.

Indiana came in 9th on the list with 5,246 deaths at a cost of $51.6 billion.
