Two people hurt, one seriously, in crash on Day Road

Two people were hurt in a crash on Day Road in St. Joseph County.

It was aroun d 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 29, when officers were calledto a collision involving two vehicles on Day Road and Currant Road in Mishawaka.

The driver of one of the vehicles, a 23-year-old Mishawaka man, suffered serious injuries and was transported to the hospital.

Initial reports indicate the Mishawaka man had been traveling eastbound on Day Road. The collision occurred as another vehicle, driven by a 68-year-old Mishawaka man tried to turn left onto Day Road from Currant Road.

A passenger in the older man’s ehicle complained of minor injuries. The older driver was not hurt and cooperated with investigators.

The preliminary evidence indicates that speed may have been a factor.

The crash remains under investigation by the St. Joseph County Fatal Crash Team.
