An Elkhart man was sentenced to five years probation in Berrien County Court.

22-year-old Jean Carlos Fernandez pleaded guilty to attempted criminal sexual conduct and will be added  to the Sex Offender registry for the rest of his life.

Leader Publications reports that Fernandez cannot be within 500 feet of schools and parks. He also cannot have access to the internet or contact with anyone under the age of 18.

The incident happened in December 2022 in Berrien Springs.
