A fight within Michigan’s Republican Party has resulted in the state’s GOP Chairperson being held in contempt of court.

Chair Kristina Karamo has been held in contempt and ordered to pay a 500 dollar fine in a dispute over the recognition of a county GOP official. Karamo has battled with critics within her own party who are seeking to remove her from the job.

Bridge Michigan reports that a judge has ruled that the party and Karamo face the penalty for refusing to recognize the legal leaders of the Hillsdale County Republican Party.

Additionally, a Michigan GOP attorney says the party should face sanctions for a frivolous lawsuit regarding the ownership of the former party headquarters.
