A woman, two children and two pets were rescued from a house that caught on fire in Elkhart.
Crews we’re called around 8:15 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 7, to the 900 block of Franklin Street to find heavy fire coming from the home and the occupants calling for help from a second story window.
The woman and children were taken for evaluation while the cat went with a family member and the humane society transported the dog for evaluation and boarding.
All were reported to be in good condition, according to a Facebook post from Elkhart Firefighters Local 338.
A cat and rabbit were unaccounted for.
No firefighters were injured.
