A Winter Storm Watch goes into effect at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 12 and lasts through 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13.
During that time heavy snow is possible with total accumulations in excess of 6 inches possible. Winds could gust as high as 35 to 45 mph.
The counties in the Watch zone include St. Joseph, Elkhart, LaPorte, LaGrange and Steuben Counties. In Michigan, Berrien, Cass and St. Joseph Counties are included.
Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow could reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday evening commute.
