Dog rescued from St. Joseph River

A dog was rescued from the St. Joseph River in South Bend on Thursday morning.
The dog named ‘Ollie” was not on a leash and got away from his owner who lives near the river.
The owner says Ollie chased some geese and ventured out on to the frozen river and fell through the ice.
Firefighters came and got Ollie out of the cold water.
He was only in the water for about 10 minutes.
Firefighters are using the incident to remind you to always be vigilant of your pets if you let them outside near a body of water.

One man is dead after a house fire Saturday morning.

Officials were called to the house in the 2500 block of South Ironwood shortly after 10 a.m.

Crews at the scene told WSBT 22 News no firefighters were injured, however they did find a man inside the home.

He was pronounced dead when he was brought outside.
